Relevance and Importance to the UN Food Systems Summit
The UNFSS Summit on 23 September 2021, will give rise to five ongoing Action Areas where the UN would place a particular focus and take increased responsibility to best link the local to the global and support implementation at country level to maximize impact on the 2030 Agenda.
These Action Areas help to organize and direct the energy of the wealth of initiatives emerging from the Summit process towards SDG achievement.

The action area #5, “Support Means of Implementation” covers: Finance; Governance; Science and Knowledge (Indigenous Food Systems); Innovation, Technology, & Data, Capacity; and Human Rights, and beyond).
The Global Research Initiative and Knowledge Repository” termed as IK Research Infrastructure (IKRI), to integrate Indigenous Knowledge (IK) into Food Systems”, developed as part of the UN Food Systems Summit process, will contribute to UN FSS action area 5: “Support Means of Implementation”.
